Santa's Helpers Do Him Proud! On December 16th, many kind and compassionate souls came together to fill the narthex of Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church (PEPC) with gifts for those in our area who are suffering personal and financial crisis. This holiday season the need is especially great. This wonderful community responded with bountiful hearts. The day was a tremendous success and an uplifting experience - a three boxes of tissues event! Then, on December 17th, we had to get several more boxes of tissues as the client families came one by one to receive their packages. As they sat to write thank you letters to their sponsors, many tears were shed as they saw a dream come true and the stress of providing a Christmas for their families eased. One client wrote "...I don't know how to thank you enough. We had no food, nothing for Christmas and it would have been a cold and even bleaker one at that as all of our utilities had been shut off. I've been out of work and my wife is sick and paralyzed. The kids are trying to be brave. It is very hard. Thank you, thank you thank you. We will all pray and give thanks for this....." Needless to say, every story is different. Words change but the message of new- found hope, gratefulness and love never varied. The Christmas spirit was thriving, infusing every heart and soul with joy. We would be remiss not to give thanks to PEPC. Not only for the efforts of their kind volunteers who worked so hard and contributed to the program, but also for the use of their beautiful church. The PTF volunteers worked long and hard to organize, manage and direct this program. Many hours and lots of effort resulted in a most beautiful gift of happiness for all. Steve Parker Adventist Hospital Associates Aid PTF The Associates at Parker Adventist Hospital decided to give up their Christmas bonus once again this year to help those less fortunate in the community. In a wonderful celebration of life and love, these wonderful folks presented PTF with a check for $5000.00. Such an affirmation of their loving hearts! These care givers work everyday to provide health services and nurture to so many. Their bonus is well deserved and well earned, and yet, they chose not themselves, but others in need. This is a group of people who clearly deserve our appreciation and praise. Truly, a manifestation of the Christmas spirit! Join us in giving thanks for this wonderful gift. The need continues to be great and this gift will help allow PTF to keep moving on in service to those who need us so desperately. We love what we do as volunteers, but know that we can’t do it alone. Thankfully, the Associates (aka angels) at Parker Adventist are right there with us, cheering us on. Their spirit heartens us all. Merry Christmas 2011 and a Blessed and Bountiful 2012 to all.
Clark and Steve Drivers Needed To Help PTF Can you help? We need folks with a van, truck or SUV to help us out by picking up food from various locations and delivering it back to PTF. This does involve some lifting and you need to be at least 18 years old. So, put on those work gloves, engage the GPS and roll on out to lend a hand to PTF and those in the community who need our help. Call us at 303-841-3460. Need Dog & Cat Food For many of our seniors, Rover and Felix are not just beloved pets but family members. Because the goal of the Parker Task Force is to take care of our families in need, that includes these boon companions. Therefore we are putting out the call for pet food! Please no bags larger than 20 lbs. Canned food is fine as well. Thank you for your consideration and help.
The Church Of Jesus Christ Of
Latter-Day Saints Once again, Parker Task Force is very grateful to the LDS for including us in their service ministry. We were invited to participate in a great cannery project canning pear sauce. This sauce (3,813 cans!) will be donated to PTF, as well as other food ministries. (By the way - it is quite delicious!) We would be remiss not to thank our Mayor, David Casiano. Also, Lisa Coe, Amy Holland and Gary Lasater of the Town Council who joined us in working on the "canning line". Gary's son was a big help as well. Additionally, the church has just approved a grant from the Bishop's Storehouse. These commodities for our food bank will be of tremendous help to carry us through the winter months. This is an excerpt from a recent letter we sent expressing our thanks for the wonderful support the LDS has given us over the years.
All of the volunteers at PTF love what we do. But, we all know that we can't do it alone. It is only with partners like the LDS that we can continue the great work we do for those in the community that need us so desperately.

PTF would like to thank the Rotary Club of Parker, Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club of Parker, Rotary Club of Castle Pines, Rotary Club of Castle Rock and the Rotary Club of Centennial. The clubs held fundraisers that included a peach sale with Joy Lutheran Church and a karaoke contest at Takoda Tavern to raise money to help fund a grant for PTF. We also want to thank IREA for its contribution to this utility grant. The Rotary Clubs’ motto “Service Above Self”, exemplifies the spirit of the organization and their ongoing support of PTF. We are grateful for this long and valuable association and so are the many families who come to us for support and assistance.
Tagawa Gardens Grows A Successful Fundraiser For PTF! Many thanks to Tagawa Gardens for the wonderful spring and summer fundraiser they held for Parker Task Force. This is the second successful event Tagawa Gardens has hosted for PTF. We are very grateful for the generous on-going support we receive from all of our friends there. These kinds of partnerships form a critical foundation for a strong and caring community. So, Tagawa Gardens can be very proud that they not only helped many folks beautify their properties, but helped an amazing number of people desperately in need of assistance as well. This is most decidedly the definition of success!!
Channel 9, in partnership with King Soopers, sponsors the 9Cares Colorado Shares food drive twice each year. The summer drive was held Saturday, June 18th. It coincides nicely with the food drive that PTF does each month – and it has the added kick of tying in with the publicity and support of Channel 9 and Kings. What a day! We collected 18,870 pounds of food and $2900. What proves that PTF rocks – in this regard and many others is looking at the news release from Channel 9 below. You can see that PTF was second in collections in the entire state! The only site that reported greater numbers was the main hub at Channel 9 news. Darn good results for an all volunteer Task Force! While we are immensely grateful for the support of King Soopers over the years, we would be remiss if we didn’t also mention the tremendous support we receive from WalMart and Safeway. PTF has conducted this food drive every month for 10 consecutive years now. We have never missed a month. And our store partners have been right there with us every step of the way. In addition, they all have supported other efforts and/or made additional contributions to PTF over the years. We all do this because we care, we’re committed and we’re determined. Regardless, we can’t do it alone. What a beautiful blessing that we also have such wonderful partners in our community to help those who need us so desperately. Thank you to everyone who works so hard, in various capacities and from various businesses, groups, schools and churches to help PTF thrive. “Playing A-Round” Pays Off for Parker Task Force
On June 6th several sponsors, volunteers and over a hundred golfers came together to have a little fun at Spring Valley Golf Club in support of the Parker Task Force. The universe cooperated wonderfully and served up a beautiful sunny day. It went perfectly with some great golf, delicious food, plenty of prizes and a fabulous silent auction. The participant feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with comments such as these: “I play in a lot of charity events. This was the most professional and well organized event I have ever attended.” “I haven’t had this much fun in a long time.” “I am impressed with this all volunteer organization!” Steve Budnack, who organized and chaired the event has this to say: “We have a terrific organization of top notch and very skilled volunteers who work hard. Spring Valley Golf Club went all out to support our effort. We are very grateful for their planning and hard work. Add to that a community of generous sponsors, vendors and merchants willing to provide in-kind donations, and those generous enough to enthusiastically participate and you have a winning hand. It was a lot of hard work, but we are very pleased with the results. Hastings More information and Pictures From The Event ---> Parker Task Force Receives $15,000.00 Parker Task Force received $15,000.00 through Denver Post Season To Share, a McCormick Foundation Fund, to support it’s programs to prevent homelessness during a reception held on Tuesday, May 31st. A record-breaking $2,665,500 was distributed to 73 Denver-area nonprofit agencies through this year’s Season To Share campaign. Since 1992, this program has raised charitable donations that are matched and disbursed to local nonprofit organizations serving our neighbors in need: low-income children as well as those who are homeless, hungry or in need of medical care. Funds are raised through reader, community and corporate donations, and each dollar donated is matched at 50 cents by the McCormick Foundation. The Denver Post and McCormick Foundation pay all administrative and promotional costs, allowing 100% of donations, plus the match, to go directly to charitable organizations. In total over the past 19 years, more than $29.4 million has been distributed through Season To Share. Parker Task Force will use its Denver Post Season To Share funding to help continue the vital work we do in our community. We are most grateful for the support and generosity of the Denver Post through their Season To Share program. This is the only way that we will be able to continue to meet the growing demand for our services. Read more.
If you have some old cell phones, bring them to the Parker Task Force locations. The Task Force will recycle these old working and broken phones and turn them into much needed funds to help our neighbors in need from every neighborhood in Parker. In this struggling economy, the need for food and financial assistance has risen and we can all help. Share this message with everyone, collect from your neighbors or at work. We are experiencing a shortage of the plastic shopping bags that we pack the client’s food order in. Also, we would like to be more ecologically minded and reusing plastic bags just makes sense!
