An estimated 15,000 pounds of food and hygiene products were donated to the Parker Task Force Food Bank during the 9Cares Colorado Shares food drive on June 16th 2007.

The community’s generous spirit made Parker the second largest collection point during the day-long effort at the Parker Task Force on East Mainstreet and at the local King Soopers and Safeway stores. The day’s collections also represented a 3,000 pound increase over the June 2006 effort in Parker.

“The generosity of Parker’s residents continually amazes me,” said Task Force Co-Chair Clark Hastings. “I also applaud the spirit of the more than 100 volunteers who worked on the drive.”

Hastings also thanked Channel 9 for its leadership on the drive, as well as Meteorologist Kathy Sabine, who collected donations for several hours at the Parker Task Force. He said there is not enough room to thank all the local businesses that also helped.

The donations will help feed the approximately 350 families currently seeking short-term assistance from the Task Force.
